The Centre for Artificial Intelligence will focus on computational intelligence algorithms, visual and pattern recognition, intelligent analysis and prediction of data, machine translation, human language technology, natural language processing, human-machine communication, etc. The Centre will play a crucial role in developing Macao into a smart city at present and in the future. The long-term goal of the Centre is to promote the design, research and development and application of artificial intelligence technologies through evidence-based research, including smart healthcare, smart travel and gaming, business intelligence, etc. The Centre will also actively provide guidance to public sectors on such areas as the prescription and application of technical standards, and the protection and respect of personal privacy.
